While setting up a budget gaming PC one may be looking into a 2GB graphic card. This is ample video memory for gamers to play most games today, on a budget. The performance is a little slower than graphic cards with more memory, but those end up costing a lot more. The dedicated memory does help take off some load from the main computer RAM. Also, a 2GB graphic card doesn't need more power, it usually works on the power the PCIe slot on the motherboard provides. Graphic cards also have built-in cooling systems which help keep the motherboard cool too.

One could play slightly older games at full resolution with a newer graphics card that has 2GB of dedicated memory. If one is using a single monitor it can handle most of the load even with newer games. Multiple screens may be a little too much for it to handle. A 2GB graphic card can rarely handle 4k resolution and some of the current games are too heavy for it.

It would be a good idea to check what one's exact gaming needs are and if they are being met by the graphic card they have in mind.
