A blood glucose meter from Accu Chek, one of the foremost brands for these meters. Accu Chek is owned by Roche, the pharmaceutical giant. 

The Accu Chek Performa can be used straight out of the box and the test strips do not need to be coded. This device is used along with the Softclix Lancing Device, which is considered the least painful method for drawing blood. Some combo-packs have the lancing device along with it, but you may need to purchase it separately.

It gives accurate results in 5 seconds and is easy to use as it has only two navigational buttons. The memory can store up to 500 test values and gives one the average test value for the past 7, 14, 30 or 90 days.

There is an infrared blaster that lets you transfer the information to your computer to store for longer terms. The device also allows you to tag the result values as pre-meal or post-meal. If the blood sample is less the Accu Chek Performa will warn you.

As for accuracy, the Accu Chek Performa meets the ISO 15197:2013.

This is a relatively affordable device and can be bought for lower-end prices. One needs to purchase the test strips separately, thankfully they are easily available in packs of a 100.
