Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a leading semiconductor brand. A fabless brand, meaning they design the technology and outsource production by connecting to foundries. In the commercial consumer processor market, there are two major players; one is AMD and the other is Intel.

AMD's processors

AMD has processors from an entry-level called Accelerated Processing Units (APUs), something the brand originated. An APU does both the computers processes and the graphics processing on one chip. This line is known as Athlon. Putting the computing and graphics on one chip removes the bottleneck between them, helping performance especially for laptops and other portable devices.

The consumer line from AMD is known as Ryzen, these have made quite a name in the market over the recent years. These are for the regular consumers. Above this is their Threadripper range, aimed at prosumers and for professional computers. Then comes the Epyc processors from AMD; specifically designed for servers and embedded systems.

AMD continues to develop newer processors, with better and more minute architecture. Making them more powerful, while using lesser energy.

The AMD processor range has a varied price, depending on the series you choose from and the specific model in question. The prices for new releases are higher, naturally.
