The Power Squad

Apple iPhone 12 was launched alongside the iPhone 12 Mini and the higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max flagships in October 2020. All these fourteenth-generation flagship iPhones are the first models by Apple that do not come with a power adapter and EarPods. 

Design & Display

Apple iPhone 12 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display which is a huge leap forward from iPhone 11's LCD display. The phone features squared-off edges that increase the phone's ergonomics and gives the user a comfortable grip. The design makes it easy for the user to hold and pick up the device from a flat surface. Most users have appreciated the design and have compared it to that of iPad Pro. The notch seems to have been reduced in width but overall the size of the notch remains similar to the previous models. iPhone 12 uses the Ceramic Shield front glass and has the same Dual-Ion Exchange strengthened glass on the rear as the previous flagship. 

IP68 Rating

iPhone 12 has IP68 water and dust-resistant rating and can survive in six meters of water for up to 30 minutes. One important thing to note here is that Apple's warranty does not cover liquid damages to the phone so one needs to be careful with water and liquid splashes.

Processor & Memory

Apple iPhone 12 features six-core A14 Bionic processor by Apple. The processor also comes with a next-generation neural engine. There are three internal storage options on the phone; 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. There is also 5G support on the phone, has 4GB of RAM and runs on iOS 14.

Performance & Gaming

The phone is smooth and seamless for watching videos and playing most games. However, when it comes to 3D gaming, it lacks behind many Android phones as well as previous iPhone flagships. Apple iPhone 12 can last up to 3 hours while playing 3D games. This is way less than the 6-hour 3D gaming performance of the iPhone 11 Pro.

Cameras 

iPhone 12 houses two cameras on the rear with 12 MP main wide shooter laced with optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus and Dolby Vision HDR processing. The second 12 MP ultra-wide camera comes with a 1/3.6-inch sensor and a 13 mm-equivalent f/2.4 lens. The phone can film stunning 4K videos with up to 60 frames per second. The cameras capture plenty of detail and light, giving amazing results. Low light photography is also great with this mobile. There is another set of dual cameras on the front, with the 12 MP main selfie camera and an SL 3D biometrics sensor. The selfie camera takes decent selfies. 

Battery & Charging

Apple iPhone 12 packs a 2,815mAh battery and supports fast battery charging that is done through USB Power Delivery. Though it comes without a charger, you can buy Apple's 20W PD charger or a USB-PD compatible adapter. For wireless charging, the phone is bundled with a magnetic charger called MagSafe that makes wireless charging a breeze. These were on all MacBooks until Apple decided to discontinue them in 2017.
