Apple Iphone 13 Pro Max

Since Apple changed the mobile phone market it has consistently been producing top tier devices. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the largest device from the 13th series. A leading device that gives a great performance in every category.

iPhone 13 Pro Max internals and OS

The processor introduced in this line is from Apple, the A15 Bionic chip that was made using the 5nm method. This processor is a Hexa-core with 2 cores putting out 3.22GHz and the other 6 have a clock speed of 1.82GHz. There is an Apple GPU as well, that has 5-core graphics processing. To help execute tasks there is 6GB of RAM.

Storage options vary quite a bit, with the base level being 128GB. The second tier is 256GB, then comes the 512GB and the largest possible storage space is 1TB. The 1TB option is massive, that amount of storage is ample for laptops, so in a smartphone, with most media compressed it is a lot. This is also an advantage with the video shooting abilities of this device, it shoots very high quality and requires storage space. 

The OS for this device is iOS 15, it has a bunch of new features, with the leading one being that not you can talk to people over FaceTime even if they have an Android or Windows device. There is also the ability for the device to recognize text that is in an image, letting you copy it to search. So you could have a picture and copy the text of a street sign in it to look it up.

Apart from this iOS 15 also has a host of Focus modes so you can put your phone in a state relevant to your own and not be disturbed. With specific notifications coming through only. The maps app has a 3D layer which is super helpful with under or overpasses. Apple has beefed up security on their OS as data breaches are a very real concern today. Overall this is one of the top OS experiences in the market.

Display and camera

Being the largest display in the iPhone 13 range, the 13 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen. To keep the pixel density the same at 457 pixels per inch, Apple has given this display a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels. Based on Super Retina XDR OLED this display is super clear. The 120Hz refresh rate makes the moving graphics very smooth too.

This display also features True Tone, Dolby Vision and is HDR10+. All this is protected by scratch-proof ceramic glass that has an oleophobic coating on it. All this makes a great display for media and gaming as well.

The cameras on this device are also very well-performing. There is a quad-sensor setup, with the main one at 12MP f/1.5 that shoots a bit wide and has sensor-shift stabilization. The secondary is 12MP f/2.8 that is for the telephoto shots with 3x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization. The third is also at 12MP with an aperture of f/1.8, this is used for the ultrawide shots. The last sensor is a TOF 3D LiDAR for the depth-sensing that lets you get great effects with the different shooting modes and adds a lot to your images.

Apple uses a lower megapixel setup but has very large sensors which is why the quality of their images is top level. This model also features ProRes and Cinematic Mode. ProRes allows you to capture video in a less compressed format so it can be edited better later, Cinematic Mode is great to shoot videos and is able to track subjects plus maintain focus points a lot better.

The selfie camera is dual with 12MP f/2.2. This side also shoots a bit wide so one can get more area covered in their selfies. Overall all the camera functions are prime, with very few other devices in this era that are at a similar level.

Connectivity, sensors and battery

All the various connectivity options are present in this device. This includes WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Data up to 5G. There is a port, the Lightning USB 2.0 for physical connectivity, this same port also has an adapter that comes in the box which lets you connect a 3.5mm audio jack to it.  This makes it easier to use your wired headphone or connect to an AUX cable. You can also make use of the DualSIM feature in case you need to have two numbers.

The sensors are all present with an accelerometer, a barometer, a compass, a gyro and a proximity sensor. There is also the ability to ID a face so you can unlock in a jiff.

Powering all this is a 4373mAh battery and although iPhones have been notorious for bad battery times the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a good battery. The battery management is a lot better and one can make use of Fast Charging as well as wireless charging.

With a sturdy stainless steel frame that will keep your device together for a longer period. The iPhone 13 Pro Max also has an IP68 rating, which means it is dust and waterproof. It could be underwater for 6 minutes at 30meters and survive, this makes it great to be able to use for underwater shots or even just knowing a bit of a splash will not destroy your costly smartphone.

Overall this device has a great performance and the few downsides are negligible. The price of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is high, in line with its build and performance quality. You can choose between Graphite, Gold, Silver and Sierra Blue for the body colours.
