Apple Watch Series 6

Apple produces some of the most sought after devices today, this includes their range of smartwatches. With the sixth iteration that was released in 2020, Apple made improvements to existing features more than new introductions. The Apple Watch Series 6 has a similar look and feel to the previous watches, a simple design that is modern and spacey, which has worked for the brand. The smartwatches from Apple only work with iPhones. This does mean great integration for iMessages, calls and notifications.

The major difference between this model and the one before is that this has improved on the wellness and fitness tracking systems. This is also why the sensors at the bottom look a little different compared to the previous iteration. The Blood Oxygen sensor is claimed by the brand to be revolutionary, though there is some debate over this.

This lets you keep an eye on how your oxygen saturation varies over a period of time, an interesting thing to check when you are doing cardio.

The internals have been improved making the performance faster by roughly 20%, this is due to the S6 SiP. It keeps the battery around 18 hours with a maxed performance, this could be longer but with running this display some of the battery is juiced. The display is a Retina OLED and is super bright at a 1000nits with this iteration. The Series 6 also features the U1 chip and Ultra Wideband antennas, that add functions for use with next-generation digital car keys and other such coming products.

The Apple Watch Series 6 also features an always-on altimeter which works in tie with the barometric altimeter, along with GPS and nearby Wi-Fi networks. It can notice changes of even 1 foot and report them to the wearer.

OS

With watchOS 7 users can personalize a lot more, there are seven new watch face options, including Stripes, Chronograph Pro, GMT, and Artist. There is also automatic hand wash detection as well as new workout types. There is now native sleep tracking and you can also set bedtime reminders that help one wind down off technology before they need to sleep.

This OS also features Family Setup which lets you connect other Apple Watches in managed modes, for kids or elders. A lot of functions are available to them, including an SOS for kids to send to you.

This is the first time one can get the Apple Watch in Blue, aside from the Silver, Space Grey and Gold Aluminum. The Nike version comes with its own colours for the bands and Hermes has also partnered with Apple to create a range of high-end straps; reflecting the origin of Hermes as an equestrian goods brand.

The price of the Apple Watch Series 6 is high, it is one of the best smartwatches on the market and the price says as much too.
