Canon EOS M100 is a robust DSLR with a polycarbonate body. It is a lightweight and compact camera that is surprisingly pretty small. The camera is available in white and black colours with a silver and black lens respectively.
There is also a built-in pop-up flash on the top that hides when you are not shooting. While the design is compact and commendable, there aren't many physical control features on the camera and it also lacks a hot shoe. Another downside is the lack of weather-sealing on this camera.
Canon EOS M100 features a 3-inch touchscreen LCD on the rear that tilts for convenient shooting. The camera lacks a built-in viewfinder, the absence of which can be problematic for most users. There is also no hotshoe that could have been used to attach a removable electronic viewfinder.
M100 uses a 24.2-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor, capable of shooting high-quality photos and Full-HD videos. It however lacks 4K video shooting option. With this camera, users can shoot pictures at the maximum resolution of 6000 × 4000 pixels and videos at 1080p video @ 60p pixels.
It uses the DIGIC 7 processor that is considered powerful and high performing. EOS M100 has a fast 49 points autofocus system and a burst rate of 6.1 fps. It lets you shoot at a maximum ISO sensitivity of 25600 and the images are crisp and clear.
Low light photography with this camera is not too impressive but not that bad either. For dimly lit interiors, using the built-in flash would give better results. Daylight photography however is sharp, vivid and full of detail.
The camera uses SD/SDHC/SDXC cards for storing data and can take approximately 295 shots in regular mode. It can take 410 shots in Eco Mode and can record a 125 minutes long movie on a single charge. It uses LP-E12, a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack.
Canon EOS M100 is integrated with WIFI, NFC and Bluetooth. One can easily and quickly share files on the internet through the built-in WIFI or use the Bluetooth option for file transfer to other Bluetooth enabled devices.
