One of the most recognised brands for women started in 1910 as a hat shop with Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel behind it. In subsequent years, it expanded into other areas of fashion pushing the boundaries. Chanel is one of the first brands to include pants for women and also use materials that were at the time used for men such as tweed and jersey. Known for inventing the women's wardrobe basic the 'little black dress' in 1926.

The Chanel perfume No. 5 is one of the most famous fragrances in the market ever. Coco maintained creative control till her passing in 1971. Karl Lagerfield was the chief designer from 1982 till 2000.

Chanel changed the market for women's wear and then went on to change the perfume market as well. Chanel No. 5 was the flagship of all this. It was created with Ernest Beaux at the helm. Despite being decades old it is still in production and is still considered one of the top options when it comes to women's perfumes.
