Dell is among the leading brands in the laptop segment. There are a lot of options within the various lines. For business, the Latitude line is a go-to, with large scale purchase being easier as it is somewhat cheaper.

The Dell Latitude E5470

A laptop with a 14-inch display the Dell Latitude E5470 is built with carbon fibre making it a sturdy machine that is able to handle bangs and spills as well. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass and is touch-able. It adheres to the military needs at MIL-STD-810G standard which means it can be operated at high and low temperatures as well as at 15,000 feet.

The display resolution is at 1920 x 1080pixel, the quality is ahead of a simple business machine. It reproduces 113.1 percent of the sRGB colour gamut, which is higher than the average rating for 2016 standards; the year it was released. The trackpad is well functioning and the keyboard is made with the smaller modern keys we are used to now.

The porting options include three USB ports, an audio jack, HDMI, Ethernet and VGA. IT also features the Dell EDock which allows it to be inserted into a desktop peripheral system. The SD card reader and a SIM slot are also available. Connectivity includes WiFi ad Bluetooth. 

Security has more features as this is generally considered a business laptop range. It includes the TPM 1.2 modules, which is a FIPS 140-2 and TCG-certified component. Specific models also come with a smart card reader that has fingerprint verification. 

Performance

The processor powering the Dell Latitude E5470 is the Intel Core i5 which runs at a clock speed of 2.3GHz. With 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. These combined make a well-performing machine that has ample power for regular tasks and then some. It would however lag if one loaded it with larger tasks such as video editing or heavy games.

Graphics processing is managed by the AMD Radeon R7. This is a mid-level graphics card and would also lag if it was loaded with higher-end graphics such as in games.

A dated machine that would work well for more regular office or home tasks. It cannot handle the new age games and other softwares that need more computing power.
