Dior Homme

Christian Dior redefined women's fashion post-WWII, making Paris the fashion capital again. Over the years the brand also got into producing fragrances, with a wide array of colognes for men. With multiple successful lines, Dior has a great selection.

Dior Homme is a line that was initially introduced in 2005, there have been many other versions released over time, such as Homme Intense, Homme Eau, Homme Sport and Homme Voyage. There are similarities between these different versions, all relating to musky tones.

The original was put together by Olivier Polge, with a woody floral musk as the result. The top notes consist of lavender, sage and bergamot. This makes for an aromatic fresh opening. These notes lead to the heart notes that are made from iris, cacao, amber and cardamom.

At the heart, one finds warmth and spice, as well as a powdery floral note from iris. The cacao adds to the warmth, with some balsamic undertones as well. For the base, Olivier mixed in leather, Tahitian vetiver and patchouli. These three add musk and green, as well as earthy spiciness.

Combined the tones bring out a great scent that is versatile, it can be worn at any time in any season. Many people cite it to be one of the best colognes they have come across, this is naturally a matter of personal preference. Olivier Polge is behind many a great scent and that level of creativity comes across in this one too.
