Eyeliner Brush Types

There are five basic types but you may find more types and styles that are specially designed for specific makeup looks. These looks could be burlesque, Arabian, Indian, Egyptian, Lebanese, smokey, smudged, bridal, Korean eye, cat eyes and no makeup looks etc.

1. Classic Thin Brush

The classic type is a sparse tipped slim brush that allows for regular application of eyeliners. This is used for applying thin lines or dots in creative makeup techniques. It is not ideal for flicks or dramatic eyeliner shapes. You can only use this in place of the applicator wand that comes with your eyeliner. 

2. Flat Dome Shaped Brush

This type usually comes with your gel or cream eyeliner kits. You can use this to make angled lines or fill in the edges and wings. The dense brush makes it convenient to create a thicker line, helping you achieve even dramatic shapes. 

3. Angled Bent/Slanted Brush

The angled brush comes with a precise thin tip that makes creating very thin lines very easy. You can use this brush to create the thinnest lines possible that would almost look like you aren't even wearing an eyeliner. You can also create wings and curved liners using this type of brush tip. Due to its bent and angled design, it is great for applying very thin lines around the inner and outer corners of the eyes where a regular brush would fail.

4. Flat Angled Brush 

This brush comes with a flat pack of hair cut at an angle. The flat angled design helps in creating slanting lines, curves or tight lines. 5. Dense Flat Brush

You can use a flat-tipped brush which has densely packed hair for creating straight lines. Any type of eyeliner can be applied using this brush but it takes a bit of practice to achieve good results. The best way to use this brush is to pick eyeshadow powder with it and apply as a straight eyeliner. This will give a very soft and natural look to the eyes and can be worn for everyday casual makeup looks without coming across as too bold.
