Foosball the game

A game that involves using figures mounted on rotating bars to kick the ball into the opponent's goal. It is essentially a mini football game. There are multiple instances of origin so it is rarely attributed to one person being the inventor.

The foosball table

In the standard size, there are 4 rods for each side that represent the player positions. This includes the goalie, defenders, midfielders and strikers. The numbers of these players varies from table to table.

Players can manipulate the rods and thus move the players attached, called Foos Men, to move the ball around and make goals. A full 350-degree rotation is often not allowed in proper competitions, or a set number of such moves is allowed. The number of players can vary, at times it is 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2. The standard foosball table allows for both.

Officiation

The game itself has had varying rules over the years. In 2002 the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) was started in France to promote the game. They do have fixed rules when it comes to their competitions. There are also 5 official ITSF table brands, these include Bonzini, Roberto Sport, Garlando, Tornado, Leonhart.

Foosball tables are available in many sizes, some can be set onto a table some are like a table themselves. The prices vary a lot, depending on the size and quality.
