Display & Design 

The widescreen of the Honor 8S has inbuilt IPS LCD panels that give it capacitive touchscreen qualities making it easy to access the phone faster. The standard 16M colours will look good on the 5.71 inches screen. The phone has a 78.1% screen-to-body ratio, this is a good measure of how the design improves the video watching experience by keeping the bezels thin and camera hidden. The display resolution is a moderately high 720 x 1520 pixels with a cinematic aspect ratio of 19:9 and ~295 PPI density that will offer bright vivid image quality. The glass front panel paired with high quality plastic chassis gives this phone a modern profile.

Battery 

The small 3,020 mAh (milliamp hour and is a unit that measures power over time) is smaller than other 5000 mAh versions but this helps keep the phone lightweight and the high-speed processor of the Honor 8S ensures power is efficiently consumed.

Camera

The camera setup of the Honor 8S is simple as compared to other smartphones in the same price range. The rear camera is a 13MP lens capable of an F/1.8 aperture that will be able to deliver crisp and clear photographs. It has a Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) which ensures that fast-moving objects are also in focus. The single colour temperature flash will give a balanced light to low setting photographs.  The photo resolution is up to 4208 x 3120 pixels in daylight settings with the video resolution being HD standard of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The front camera has a 5MP lens that feels basic and unsatisfying for selfie enthusiasts. The  F/2.2 aperture and fixed focus lens will be able to capture bright visuals in perfectly bright natural light. The AI beautification filters and tools will help customise and edit photographs. This does not support beauty mode photography which feels like a letdown for experienced selfie-takers. But it is able to work smoothly for video chatting and conferencing. 

Memory

The Honor 8S is a smart choice for first-time buyers of smartphones, it has an expandable memory which ensures users are able to enjoy a low priced phone with only 32GB or at a higher price a 64GB internal storage without having to change their phone for a few years. The 3GB or 4GB RAM will be supported well with a microSD card that can push the memory up to 512GB via a dedicated slot.
