Display & Design

The 6.3 inches LCD screen on Honor Play is huge with a pixel density of 409 ppi. With a metal back and frame, Honor Play does not have Gorilla Glass protection and the screen is vulnerable to damages and accidental blows. The phone also doesn't offer FM Radio but sports a hybrid sim slot. You can cast your screen on your LED TVs via Chromecast using Honor Play.

It also supports USB OTG (on the go) and can be used to connect your pen drives and hard disks to your phone. You can play VR games or watch VR videos on Honor Play as it is equipped with a gyroscope sensor and supports VR. Honor Play lacks waterproofing and also doesn't support 5G. Since it is not waterproof, even a slight splash can damage the phone so make sure your phone does not come in contact with liquids.

Gaming & Performance

Aimed at the gamer community, the phone is a powerful and affordable mid-range phone with fast performance. It delivers a seamless performance be it while multitasking or gaming but on the downside, the phone shows signs of thermal throttling during intensive gaming. Honor Play heats up if the games are set to their maximum settings.

This comes off as a disappointment but might not be much of a problem if you are not into hardcore gaming and just like to use your phone for regular stuff. The 4GB RAM and i7 co-processor, Honor Play is good enough for carrying out your day to day tasks.

Camera & Battery

Honor Play offers fast charging support and has a type C port. Its 3400 mAh battery can last more than a day of moderate usage. Honor Play offers 4K video making capability but terribly lacks electronic image stabilization EIS, making the 4K videos shaky and unstable. Cameras are a bit of a disappointment when it comes to nighttime photography. Its low light shots come out as grainy and lack detail which is a downer.
