The Core i7 8th generation processor from Intel was a hit in the market. With many reviews stating how powerful it is and how well it performs. It was released in laptops in late 2015 but is still considered a power house. The Core i7 8th Gen is the Karby Lake R architecture and was made using the 14nm method initially; later variants of the same chipset were made with the 10nm process.

This processor has six cores and works well for powerful processing needs such as gaming. Despite being an older model it can still handle newer games, to a certain date of course beyond which one would need to upgrade.

HP has made use of this processor in many of their various laptop lines, including EliteBook, ProBook, Envy, Pavillion and even in the top-end Spectre range. Depending on the specific model of laptop there may be a little variation in regard to the processor. Some have quad cores instead of six, this depends on the release date as Intel keeps tweaking their products.
