Huawei produces a lot of portable devices. This includes various tablets which are great for some work tasks, reading and also to stream media on. A lot of kids also use tablets for their learning and games.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite

There are two sizes available with the MediaPad M5 Lite, one is 10.1 inches and the other is slightly smaller at 8.0 inches. Both have Kirin processors, with the 8.0 having one made at a finer method 12n versus 16nm for the 10.1 inch one. The GPUs vary as well, the 8.0-inch device has a Mali-G51 MP4 while the other one has a Mali-T830 MP2. In this segment as well, the 8.0 inch M5 Lite has a better chipset.

The smaller variant also has a newer version of the OS, it runs Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0 while the 10-inch version runs the Android 8 Oreo with EMUI 8.0. The RAM and storage options are the same for both variants. One can either choose 32Gb storage with 3GB RAM or 64GB storage with 4Gb of RAM. In case the storage is running short there is a microSDXC card slot that can be used to add on more.

The resolution for the screens on both devices is at 1920 x 1200pixels, this gives the smaller one a slightly higher pixel density naturally. 

The selfie camera on both devices is an 8MP one, with the main camera being different. The 8.0-inch one has a 13MP lens and the 10.1 inch Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite has an 8MP camera for this side too.

Wireless connectivity is similar to WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The porting for the 10.1-inch version is a USB Type C and for the smaller ones it is a MicroUSB. Sensors common to both are the accelerometer and proximity sensor. The larger variant has a compass and a fingerprint reader as well.

For batteries, the larger device has a 7500mAh cell and the 8.0-inch one has a 5100mAh cell. How long this lasts generally is a matter of the tasks you are running and for how long.

Either of the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lites would be ideal for someone who can spend a bit more on a tablet. Both feature Space Grey or Champagne Gold as the colour options, this is for the rear of the device. The front has a bezel that is black.

For true potability the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lites have a slot for a SIM, this lets one access Data on the go, giving you true portability.
