Huawei is one of the leading brands when it comes to budget smartphones. They have a lot of options for this segment, making it easier for a larger base of people to have access to smartphones that keep them connected in the digital world.

The Huawei Y5P Os and internals

Built to be closer to an entry-level smartphone, the Y5P from Huawei has decent specs for its price range. It makes use of the Android 10 OS as its base layer, with the proprietary EMUI 10.1 skin. This EMUI 10.1 user interface allows for more customisation in comparison to the plain Android base, as well as a range of features. 

The features include MeetTime, simpler multi-screen collaboration, Huawei share, a multi-device control panel and a few others. MeetTime makes it easy to video conference and share one's screen, in case you are helping your parents navigate their smartphone or other such instances. The multi-screen and multi-device control help you integrate all your Huawei devices a lot faster.

The component at the centre of this smartphone is the Mediatek MT6762R Helio P22, made using the 12nm method. This is an Octa-core running four Cortex-A53 at 2.0 GHz and four Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz. With an integrated ARM chip for graphics which is the PowerVR GE8320 from Imagination Technologies.

The RAM for this smartphone is at 3GB and there is 32GB of storage space. The storage can be extended using a microSD card that uses one of the SIM slots.

Display and camera

At 5.45 inches the display is a decent size. The resolution is at 720 x 1440p, brining the pixels per inch count to 295. This display is a capacitive touchscreen that allows for multitouch.

For the camera system, Huawei has opted for a single lens setup. Giving this smartphone an 8MP main sensor, set alongside an LED flash. The selfie camera is a 5MP one. Both sides record video at 1080p with a frame rate of 30 fps. Combined with the camera app there is functionality for phase detection, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama.

Connectivity, sensors and battery

The connectivity gamut has all the needed options, including WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio and data as 3G and 4G. The Huawei Y5P doesn't have NFC so payment through your smartphone will not be possible. For porting one has the microUSB and this smartphone also retains the 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on this device are rather bare with just an accelerometer and a proximity detector. 

The battery size is pretty decent for this smartphone, given its size and power. Packed with a 3020mAh cell which is based on the li-polymer technology.

It is important to note that this smartphone does not have Google Play Services. As with most devices today this device also has Dual-SIM options. It is available in Mint Green, Midnight Black and Phantom Blue; at a lower end price making it quite an affordable option.
