Infinix S5 Pro

The market has a host of brands that cater to a budget-friendly segment, Infinix is one such brand. The quality of their devices is good, with the prices being affordable. There are quite a few options and one can find good designs as the brand has its smartphones designed in France. Infinix itself is based in Hong Kong.

Infinix S5 Pro internals and OS

This is one of the cheapest smartphones that has a pop-up selfie camera. The chipset powering the central processing is the MediaTek Helio P35, this is good for regular tasks but doesn't do well with games. The RAM is at 4GB and the storage is at 64GB. Storage can be expanded via a dedicate microSD card slot, this adds on another 256GB. 

An Android-based smartphone the Infinix S5 Pro makes use of Android 10 and has a layer of Infinix's skin on top. This layer, the user interface, is known as the XOS 6.0. The additional skin allows for some customisations that do not exist at this point in plain Android. This includes the Dark Mode which is easier on the eyes, the Focus Mode that is essentially so one is not disturbed by their smartphone and a few other such features.

Camera and display

For the camera, Infinix has built-in a triple camera module on the rear. The primary camera is a 48MP that shoots a tad wide, the secondary is the 2MP depth sensor that helps add more layers to one's photography and the last one is the QVGA low light sensor. Although low light photography is not so great on this phone. The front camera has an interesting feature, the pop-up system. Built into the pop-up is a 32MP camera for selfies. Both front and back can record video of 1080p at 30fps.

The display at on the Infinix S5 Pro is a 6.53-inch one and has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. This resolution brings the pixels per inch to 395. This is quite good for a smartphone in this price range. With brightness at 480 nits. The notchless design makes it a nice viewing-scape, with full HD imagery that can be seen at many viewing angles.

Connectivity, sensors and battery

Packed with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Radio and a microUSB for porting. This same connection also has the USB On-The-Go feature, which allows the smartphone to function as a dock for thumb drives. For sensors, Infinix has given this model an accelerometer, a compass, a proximity sensor, a gyro and a fingerprint reader that is rear-mounted.

This smartphone is powered by a Li-Polymer based battery that has a capacity of 4000mAh. This is ample to last a decent amount of usage over the course of a day.

This smartphone is a good budget buy, it has all the needed features and then some. It is available in multiple colours, all of which are bright as this is catering to a younger generation of users.
