Intel Core i7

A range of 64-bit x86 processors introduced in 2008 by Intel, one of the market leaders when it comes to processors. This is a family of high-end processors made for power users made with up to eight cores. The features that made this range a success include Enhanced Memory Control which supports three channels of DDR3 memory and it contains its own memory controller that functions with a separate clock outside the core area of the chip.

Quick Path is a system that speeds up the interconnection between the CPU cores and memory and between the cores and the I/O hub. Turbo Boost allows for the speed of Intel Core i7 cores to be adjusted and upped in case one needs a bit more power to execute a heavy task. Primed for AI acceleration so a whole new subset of computing is given more attention. As AI becomes more common in its various forms this is an important feature and lets machines work better in this segment too. Another feature is Intel Optane, a system that helps manage memory a lot better and reduces latency by about a 1000 times in comparison to NAND flash memory. This helps with SSDs but is especially useful if you are using an older HDD.

As the years pass Intel keeps improving upon their Core i7 design and making chips that have a higher number of transistors for the processing. This increase makes it possible for a processor to execute more tasks, making the overall performance faster. The newer Intel Core i7 chips also have way better power consumption and management, this helps with how long batteries last.

Over the years there have been many iterations of the Intel Core i7 family that have made it to the market. One could opt for the latest option or one from a few steps lower if budget is a consideration. These are high-end processors that are expensive to purchase.

Intel is a leader with one other brand that is anywhere near it and that brand is AMD.
