Ipad Mini 5

The iPad Mini line from Apple is ideal if you do not want a large-sized tablet. The iPad Mini 5 is the 5th iteration and was released in 2019. The design is pretty much the same as the other iPad, with a slim body, rounded edges and a home button at the centre of the bottom bezel. One has the option of choosing Space Gray, Silver or Gold for the body.

WIth a FullHD display of 7.9 inches that has a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels bringing the pixel density to 324 pixels per inch. This creates a great visual experience so one can easily enjoy their games and videos on the iPad Mini 5. It features True Tone and also has a wide colour gamut. The glass on top is scratch resistant and also oleophobic so it doesn't get a ton of fingerprint stains on it.

The iPad Mini 5 is powered by Apple's own A12 Bionic chip, a hexa-core architecture that provides a powerful performance so you can easily play games without there being lag. Along with this, there is an Apple GPU for taking on the visual processing. There is 3GB of RAM, generally, this would be considered low but Apple is able to make the most of this resource. Storage has the option of 64GB or 256GB.

There is the iOS 12.1.3 that is upgradable to iPadOS 15.1. This is a great system, in fact, Apple's OSes are one of their winning features and have always done well with users finding them simple to use as well as streamlined in performance.

For random picture taking, but more so for video calls, one has cameras on the iPad Mini 5. The rear camera is at 8MP and for the front side, it is a 7MP one. Both shoot video at 1080p so one has more than ample visual quality. There are built-in speakers and generally, such small speakers are not very good, but on the iPad Mini 5 Apple has speakers that work quite well and one can watch their media without needing headphones. At least if you don't have headphones in the moment you won't be stuck with bad sound. There is also the 3.5mm audio jack so attaching headphones is easy.

Other features

The iPad Mini 5 has WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS; there is a specific variant that also has the space for a Nano-SIM or eSIM, with those you can get access to data even without WiFi. There is no Radio or NFC and the physical porting is achieved via Lightning, USB 2.0. This tablet has an accelerometer, a compass, a gyro and a proximity sensor for feedback that helps apps run. If you want to use your fingerprint to unlock it there is also the option for that.

If you would like to use a stylus there is support for that on the 1st Gen versions.

For the battery, Apple has fitted the iPad Mini 5 with a 5124mAh Li-ion cell. This is pretty decent and one can get about 10 hours of usage, however, this is based on the specific kind of usage so timing varies based on that.
