Born Syed Sibt-e-Ashgar Naqvi, Juan Elia was fluent in Urdu, Arabic, English, Persian, Sanskrit and Hebrew. He is one of the most prominent Pakistani poets and was known for being unconventional. A man with many interests he acquired knowledge of philosophy, logic, Islamic history, the Muslim Sufi tradition, Muslim religious sciences, Western literature, and the Kabbala.
