Kari Patta

Kari patta is widely used in Pakistan, it is added to the food while the masala is being prepared and sometimes later as well. It seasons the food and is also beneficial for the health if used otherwise.

It adds a lemon scent and pungent taste to the food, giving the dish a more full range of tastes.

The claimed health benefits include reduction of blood pressure, amnesia, it helps with digestive secretions which reduce nausea and is also said to be good to curb diabetes. All these are anecdotal and part of Hikmat and Ayurvedic medicine, there is no controlled study to make sure if these effects are as claimed.
