A material that has been in use by humans for over a millennia. Making belts from leather means these are long-lasting accessories as leather is a durable material. Compared to other accessories a belt is very useful in functionality; helping keep loose pants up.

Different kinds of leather belts

The most basic of course is a straight simple, single layer belt that has stitching along the edges for detail, with a metal buckle that could be of any shape. There are many variations in the colour of leather, therefore, belts can be made from any number of colours. At times two thin layers of leather are stitched together with a filling in between them, making the belt look more formal and plush. The buckles can be in any shape, with more fancy ones that have embellishments or logos to simple horseshoe buckles.

Braided belts are also very common and are considered a classic style. The braided belt has the added value of fitting more sizes as holes are not needed and the buckle's pin can be fit at any point between the braiding.

Belts are available in various sizes, as the belt once tied should not have too much leftover to be looped in. A cobbler can also easily make holes in case the size needs more holes that can be used to adjust the belt to the needed tightness.
