Lenovo's ThinkPad line is dedicated to work machines, with the ThinkPad E540 the aim was for smaller businesses. This device is made with a simple design and is functionally sound.

A device that comes with a 15.6-inch display that is touch-abled as well. The resolution is HD so one can enjoy their media on it as well, in case they use it for entertainment. As this machine is designed for simpler work tasks it does not have a more powerful graphics processor but sues one from Intel.

The processor Lenovo has fitted this laptop with is from Intel, the Core i5 and some models also have the i7. RAM is at 4GB for the lower and one can get a bit more with other options. The storage is the HDD variant and is 1TB or lesser, depending on the specific laptop you choose.

Lenovo's ThinkPad E540 has a spill-resistant keyboard so you are safer working around your coffee. One also gets an optical drive, something a lot of new machines do not have anymore.

There are plenty of porting options so one can connect all their needed peripherals or devices such as printers. Wireless connectivity is also possible with the ThinkPad E540. 

Working on the go has a little over 7 hours available with the battery this machine has, this is a decent amount of time to be able to work without access to power.
