Microsoft Surface Pro 2

One of the successes from the Microsoft hardware range, the Surface Pro 2 is a good device and was well received by many at the time of release. It entered the market in 2013 and was produced till 2014.

The design is simple, with neat lines. The back has a kickstand so you can have your screen set up like a laptop with the keyboard in the cover, this is known as the Type Cover.

The Surface Pro 2 was a hit for Microsoft, it did very well in the market and set up the way for future iterations. Made as a portable workstation for designers and artists this is a great machine.

The display is 10.6 inches with an HD resolution so one gets good clarity for their work. The touch sensitivity is high and the stylus supports 1024 levels of pressure, this is something that is very useful for artists. The Surface Pen is included so one is set to get drawing as soon as they get their device. The graphics processing is handled by an Intel chipset, the Intel HD Graphics 4400.

For the main processor, Microsoft fitted the Surface Pro 2 with the 4th Gen Intel Core i5. This is aided by either 4GB or 8GB of RAM for tasking. With the 4GB options, one has the storage choice of 64 or 128GB and the 8GB option has 256 or 512GB. One can decide based on what their needs are and pick the apt RAM and storage. 

One gets WiFi and Bluetooth, but also a full-sized USB 3.0 port which was generally not the case with such portable devices as they were made too slim. Thre is a card reader, a Mini DisplayPort and a headset jack.

As this device also works like a tablet it has built-in sensors. These include an ambient light sensor, an accelerometer, a gyro and a compass. There are also two cameras, both are 720p HD and one is on the front and the other is on the back.

The battery time for this device is near 9 hours, this does vary based on what exactly one is using it for.

Price-wise today the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is in a more affordable range.
