The debate of to substitute raw fresh milk with Tetra packaged milk has been controversial in Pakistan. Recently this became a national concern in 2017 when the Punjab Food Authority scrutinised the Nestle Milkpak and Nestiva manufacturing facilities and product. They tested the milk with a high standard ISO-17025 certified laboratories including PCSIR, SGS and Intertek to approve the milk's chemical, biological and physical quality. The results from the laboratory tests approved and passed Milkpak and Nestiva as quality milk sources that are safe and healthy for humans.

Quality and Safety

Nestle Milkpak treats raw milk with Ultra-high-temperature processing instead of pasteurization. As Ultra-Heat Treatment (UHT) heats the milk to 280 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of two seconds to kill harmful bacteria. This improves the shelf life to up to nine months as compared to the traditional pasteurization process. Pasteurizing as compared to UHT is a milder treatment to kill bacteria. It brings the milk to a specific temperature for a certain period of time kill off all bacteria. This treatment was created in 1968 to prevent diseases such as listeriosis, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, diphtheria, and brucellosis.
