Oneplus Nord Ce

OnePlus is from the BBK Electronics family, which also has Vivo, Oppo and Realme. The Nord line from OnePlus is about providing options that are more affordable in comparison. The Nord CE also features 5G abilities, giving it an edge into the newer age. It is a feature-packed smartphone that would do well for a good few years with ease. The design is very simple as is the OnePlus way and has three colour options which are Blue Void, Charcoal Ink and Silver Ray. Like most devices from its era it features DualSIM capabilities.

OS and internals

The base layer for this device is the Android 11 system. It features Machine Learning, by way of which it can optimise itself to reflect a performance that is tuned to the user using the device. Over this OnePlus has its own OxygenOS 11; this layer lets users optimise the systems more and has features that the Android base does not.

At the heart of this device is the Snapdragon 750G 5G from Qualcomm, a chipset that was made using the 8nm method. Today this is a great mid-tier option. This processor has a GPU as well, the Adreno 619 which takes on the visual load. With various options in RAM available, so you can choose between 6, 8 or 12GB. The storage can be either 128GB or 256GB and in case that is less, you could also opt to add on a microSD card that has another 256GB in it.

Camera and display

The main module is a triple sensor setup. The main one is a 64MP one with an aperture of f/1.8 and shoots a bit wide. The ultrawide sensor is at 8MP f/2.3 and the third is a 2MP f/2.4 sensor for adding depth. These three come together to take great shots and also have modes such as HDR, Nightscape, pano and more. Video on this side can be shot at 4K with a 30fps frame rate or at 1080p with a frame rate at 30/60fps. The camera also features EIS so your shots are stable.

Selfies are shot via the 16MP f/2.5 sensor and this sensor shoots video at 1080p with a frame rate that can be set at either 30 or 60fps. 

The AMOLED based display in this device makes for super crisp viewing, especially with a FullHD resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. This resolution inside a 6.43-inch display brings the pixels per inch to 409. A refresh rate of 90Hz is towards the mid-range but ample to make your viewing smooth.

Sensors, connectivity and the rest

For all the apps to function well smartphones need sensors that feed relevant data. The OnePlus Nord CE has an accelerometer, compass, a gyro and a proximity sensor. There is a fingerprint sensor for security that is embedded in the display so it is neatly placed.

The wireless connectivity segment has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Data with abilities up to 5G. For wired connectivity one has a USB Type-C 2.0 port that can also function as a USB On-the-Go port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

To power this device OnePlus has given it a 4500mAh battery that is based on Li-Polymer technology. Fast charging is also a feature present in this device, known as Warp Charge as it is from OnePlus. The box also has a phone protector so one can cover up their device with a protective layer right from the start.

OnePlus is generally an expensive brand, the Nord line was created to have a slightly more budget purchase. The OnePlus Nord CE is a device in the upper tier of the mid-range price point. This makes it relatively expensive, but a good device that is worth the money. The reviews of OnePlus smartphones are almost always good.
