Oppo F17

Oppo F17 is a good choice if you have a mid-range budget in mind. This smartphone has a design similar to a lot of the phones from the era, with a slim body and edges that are rounded, along with a small notch for the selfie camera. The colour options for the body include Dynamic Orange, Navy Blue and Classic Silver; one can choose based on what they prefer and accessorise their look.

At the heart of this smartphone, one finds the Qualcomm SM6115 Snapdragon 662, an octa-core chip that has 4 cores at 2.0GHz clock speeds and another 4 at 1.8GHz. This processor is made using the 11nm method, so it is quite densely packed, giving users a good performance. Integrated into this is the Adreno 610, a GPU that takes on visual processing. This combination lets users get some mobile gaming usage too.

For tasking, there is 8GB of RAM which is more than ample for most users and can help handle multiple apps as well. Storage is at 128GB and can be extended via a microSDXC card. The OS Oppo has gone with at the base is Android 10, a system with Machine Learning that can tweak itself and improve the speed of operation. Layered onto this base is ColorOS 7.2, with this one can customise their device a lot more so their experience is personalised.

Camera and display

The camera on the Oppo F17 is a bit underpowered for the range but is a quad lens setup. This makes up for some of it as it allows users to take a varied variety of shots. The main sensor is at 16MP, with the secondary an 8MP one and the remaining two are both 2MP. The 8MP sensor is for the ultrawide shots, one of the 2MP lenses is for macro shots and the other is for depth sensing. These combined with the camera app allow for Macro, HDR, Pano, Portrait and more modes for shooting.

On the front one finds a 16MP camera as well, this is for selfies and video calls. It can also shoot HDR and a few other modes, but not as many as the main camera systems. Both sides shoot video at 1080p, giving users ample quality for their content.

The Oppo F17 has a 6.4 inch display, an ample size for gaming and streaming media as well. The technology used is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, making for a FullHD display. With this display, you can have fun playing games or streaming movies and shows as well.

Other features

With this smartphone the user gets various wireless connectivity standards, these include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio and Data up to 4G. With this device one also has DualSIM abilities so it is a lot easier to keep two active numbers in one place. The wired porting is done via a USB Type-C or a 3.5mm audio jack. To provide the necessary feedback for apps to function Oppo has furnished the F17 with sensors, these include an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. Quick unlocking is handled by the fingerprint reader that is embedded into the display. 

The battery powering this smartphone is a 4015mAh one, it also features fast charging so one can top up quicker if they are in a hurry. 50% in 30 minutes and a 100% in 53 minutes is what the brand advertises.
