For the OS, the base layer is Android 11 and layered onto it is ColorOS 11. The base layer gives you Machine Learning, a feature that allows your device to optimise itself based on the user's patterns. This lets it become snappier in a few weeks, mirroring your actions better. The ColorOS 11 layer is great since it allows for more personalisation as far as animations, app drawers and such things go. This way users can change up their digital space to suit their needs better or just have a feel they prefer.

Cameras and display

A powerful feature of the Oppo Reno 5 is its cameras. The main module is a quad sensor setup, with the primary sensor at 64MP f/1.7 and an ability to shoot a little wide. The secondary is an 8MP f/2.2 which is for the ultrawide shots. The remaining two are 2MP f/2.4, one of which is for macro shots and the other is the depth sensor. These combined with the camera app allow for many modes such as HDR, pano and have features like phase detection, face detection and touch focus.

The selfie camera is a 44MP one, so it gets super clear results. This selfie camera also shoots video at 1080p, with a frame rate of 30fps with gyro-EIS for more clean shots. The main side also shoots with these same specs but with the option of 30, 60 or 120fps. Aside from this, there is also the option of 4K video with a frame rate of 30fps on the main side.

The Oppo Reno 5 has an AMOLED display, so it is bright and with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels it is also crisp. At 6.5 inches in size, the pixel density comes to 409 pixels per inch. To make things smooth, this display has a 90Hz refresh rate. All this is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. A display of this spec range is ample for most of one's gaming needs.

Connectivity, sensors and battery

Oppo has included WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio and Data till 4G in the Reno 5. Aside from these options there is ported connectivity via a USB Type-C 2.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack as well. For feedback that is needed by the apps, this device has an accelerometer, a compass, a proximity sensor and a gyro. There is also a fingerprint reader that is embedded into the display, for quick unlocking.

The power source for this device is a 4310mAh cell, it also features Fast Charging and reversible charging as well.

The feature that this device does lack is any form of waterproofing. There are two colour options, Fantasy Silver and Starry Black that one can choose from.

The price of the Oppo Reno 5 is towards the higher side of a mid-range.
