Why plastic chairs are a hit

Common in Pakistan, plastic chairs can be found all over the country. The reason they are widespread is the low cost. Most people find it easier to buy plastic furniture in comparison to wood. The plastic lasts long enough, especially if they are stored inside. Weather can, over time, ruin plastic furniture. Of course, that is over a long time period. These plastic chairs are available in many designs and colours, another reason for their selling well.

How they are made

There are a couple of methods applied for making plastic chairs, but in Pakistan one is common. The injection moulding method, the plastic is heated up at a predetermined rate and temperature. After which it is poured into a metal mould, poured through an injection tube, hence the name. Then it is allowed to cool off and in the process solidifies. All this has to be done with some precision because if it is poured too fast the result will not be a uniform plastic configuration, making the chair weak. Vice versa if it is poured too slow it will dry too soon. If it is done right the chair is seamless, a true one piece.

The known brands in Pakistan are Boss Moulded Furniture, Citizen International and Toyo Plastic International. Prices vary a little as do the qualities, but overall these brands are comparable.
