Realme launches new versions of their models within months at times, really pushing the competition. The focus is mostly on budget-friendly devices; with the Realme 5 Pro being a budget device if one wants to play games.
The 5 Pros display
Packing a 6.3-inch display based on IPS LED technology. With a resolution of 1080 x 2340p giving a pixel density of 409ppi. Rendering vibrant colours and clear graphics, working well with streaming or gaming. The display lacks an auto-brightness boost when one is out in the sunlight but generally, it is bright enough to be visible.
Internal specs
The chipset powering the 5 Pro is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 which has two Kyro Gold Cores, running a clock time of 2.3GHz, along with six Kyro Silver Cores at 1.7GHz. For the graphics, there is the Adreno 616 on board. All these specs combined with the 8GB RAM make the phone's performance good. In fact, the basic processor is better than what one generally finds in this price range. The storage is also ample at 128GB and can be extended via a dedicated card slot, up to 256GB more.
OS and camera
Realme 5 Pro runs their proprietary skin ColorOS, version 6.0 which is layered onto Android 9 Pie. This is similar to previous models like the Realme 3 Pro or Realme X. The ColorOS is good but can be a bit slower than the Android one itself. They do have some extra features like an app drawer to reduce clutter. For cameras Realme gave the 5 Pro a quad lens setup similar to the predecessor. Going from two to four lenses, without having ever made a phone that had a tri lens setup.
The main camera is a 48MP, f/1.8, (wide), an 8MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultrawide), a 2MP, f/2.4 (dedicated macro camera) and a 2MP, f/2.4, depth sensor. Making it quite a powerful camera system. The camera app is also set up to optimise what it is capturing with AI managing the settings. Multiple shooting modes to make your images stand out such as HDR, Chroma Boost, Time-Lapse, Panorama and Filters. Also, the Portrait mode that has the bokeh effect to make the subject stand out. Recording videos at 1080p 30fps and one can shoot them up to 60fps.
Connectivity and battery
Offering all the usual channels of connectivity such as Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and USB-Type C. It even has the USB On The Go option that makes it's able to read other devices that connect using USB, making the need for a computer redundant. The battery is a 4035mAh using Li-Polymer cells, these cells last longer overall and also can be made with a slimmer form factor making the battery more compact.
A phone that is at par with anything in this range, in fact, some components are better than what one would generally find in this range. The Realme 5 Pro is worth the price it is selling for.
