Size

The smallest packet available for rice is 1KG that makes it easy to carry from the store to the house for smaller households. The largest available rice packaging is 50KG that is usually bought commercially for restaurants and businesses with a large workforce to feed regularly. The commonly bought size is the 5 to 10 KG that is ideal for a medium to large size household of 4 to 8 members Pakistani cuisine uses a lot of rice cooking in dishes such as Biryani, Pulao and even deserts like Kheer.  

Type of RIce

There are many kinds of rice available in the market depending on your budget, occasion and requirement a variety can be used in various recipes. Basmati rice is considered premium quality like a long grain size ideal for festive dishes as each grain falls separately unlike sticky rice that tends to join together when cooked. There is also brown rice that has more fibre content that is ideal for diabetics and those looking to reduce calorie intake. 

Preparation & Storage

Simple white rice only needs to be boiled until the grain becomes soft removing excess water and letting it sit for another extra 15 to 20 minutes depending on the quality. It is ideal food source for children and is easy to digest. Rice has plenty of vitamins and minerals that are essential for the body. The rice can be stored in a dry and cool place in the home. Rice can be stored for long periods of time without worrying about it going bad but it can be damaged due to damp closet or humidity. It is better to transfer the rice from the store-bought packaging into a dry container to store for daily use in the home.
