Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus was released in February 2020 along with the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S20. While the S20 is the least costly of the three phones, S20 Plus falls in the mid lagging behind the S20 Ultra in terms of price and camera. If you are on a budget and are looking for cheaper options but great features go for the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus that are the predecessors of the trio. 

Design & Display

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus features a beautiful large 6.7 inch AMOLED display is refreshingly pleasing to the eyes while watching videos. The display is vivid and looks stunningly bright and is also an always-on display. There is an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that is somewhat fast but not as responsive and fast as some of the rivalling phones. There is also a tiny cut out on the front for selfie camera that isn't distracting or too noticeable. The lack of a headphone jack leaves a bad taste in the mouth as many competitors are re-introducing the 3.5mm audio jack in their newer phones. Another downside is the huge size of the phone which makes it too big for normal day to day use. 

Performance & Cameras

The Exynos 990 (7 nm+) coupled with 8GB of RAM delivers fast and lag-free performance. The 120 Hertz refresh rate sounds great but fails short of performance at the max resolution. Despite this, it is still faster than phones with lower refresh rates. Gaming is a breeze with the S20 Plus with its fast processing and glitch-free performance. Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus features advanced and high performing cameras. There is a quad-camera setup on the rear with a 12 MP main camera, 64 MP periscope telephoto cam, 12 MP ultrawide and a TOF depth sensor. The nighttime video results shot in 4K @ 24fps are detailed and prove that the camera can perform well in any lighting condition. The selfie camera is a 10MP sensor that takes okayish selfies and a phone at this price tag should have had better cameras at least.

While the three phones differ in battery, display, camera resolution and sizes, they all are powered by the same operating systems and processors. Whichever of the trio you opt for is a matter of preference and budget but Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus will be more than enough for most people. If budget and ergonomics are more important to you then go for the S20 as it is the most compact of the three and also the cheapest.
