Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes with a gorgeous design and a lovely screen. The deep reflectivity of the phone is hypnotic and makes it look premium and futuristic. It bears many similarities to the Samsung Galaxy Fold as both phones use the same hinge mechanism but the Z Flip has an articulating screen that can be propped up like a laptop. The flip hinge is not as springy as some of the older flip phones and will need a bit of getting used to. 

Another similarity is the display that is protected by a polymer-based layer and is prone to scratching. The display has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and comes with a very tall 21.9 aspect ratio. There is a small 1.1 inch external Super AMOLED display on the cover for displaying notifications, controlling music and to see who's calling. The power key lies on the side of the phone and doubles as a fingerprint scanner. There is no headphone jack on the Z Flip and the battery life is below average.

Performance & Cameras

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip runs smoothly and without any glitches but its 60Hz screen refresh rate is a downer. For gamers, this might not be the best option as there are many phones available with better display sizes and screen refresh rates than the Z Flip. The cameras are a sheer disappointment for a premium-priced phone like this and they lack autofocus and image stabilization. The phone also doesn't even have a telephoto camera. Though the cameras give a good daytime result, they don't perform well at night and struggle under low lighting conditions. Even turning on the night mode doesn't save it from displaying a good amount of noise. The selfies come out looking slightly blurry due to the lack of autofocus.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is for people who are more into how a phone looks in their hand rather than its performance and features. Those who are fond of smartphone opulence would love this phone but the technical lot will find it a bit too expensive for its worth.
