Steam irons & how they work

Beyond having nice clothes they have to be ironed well to look good, creased clothes just make one look shabby and unkempt. A dry iron works well for most things but requires you have a spray bottle as well, the dampness gets the creases out a lot better and not by a small margin but to the degree where it really matters. A steam iron houses a small amount of water which it drops through the hot soleplate thus converting into a puff of steam that is being blown into the fabric as you weigh down upon it with the iron. This process rids the fabric of creases very well. What a lot of people are not aware of is that ironing clothes isn't just something that makes them look neat it is also a process that makes clothes more hygienic due to the high temperature. Irons also have preset temperatures for different kinds of fabrics, it is good to pay attention to these as they all burn at different levels of heat, so a cotton heat setting would burn through satin in seconds possibly.

Steam irons at times also have a separate button that can spray the water over the fabric in case you think that is better for a specific situation. With settings on how much steam it is infusing into the fabric too, usually just 2 different quantities of steam. A lof these are designed with a transparent or semi-transparent section so you can see how much water is in there and if it needs a refill. Be sure to let the iron dry up on the outside as spills can stain clothes and then it's just an annoying process trying to rid the fabric of a water stain before you head out. There are also irons with an auto-shutoff feature in case you leave the iron put down too long which could burn the surface or even start a fire. The non-stick surface has been around for a long time but it is still a great feature and worth the mention as before it was very common for the iron to stick to cloth if the temperature was even a little more than the fabric could handle, this also allows for a better glide over the cloth so the ironing is done with ease of flow.

The other bit being that a steam iron can be used as a dry iron but a dry iron cannot do what a steam iron does. If you don't mind the holes in the soleplate of the steam iron then you have your pick already. It is important to be careful while ironing as the soleplate is at a very high temperature, especially around kids and steam irons. The steam can seem like something fun to a child's eye.
