The Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2

A full-frame lens from Tamron with image stabilisation. It is the second iteration, with the original being the G1. The focal length's range is a great choice for a general-purpose lens. The range allows for wide-angle and short telephoto, this sort of lens works well for events allowing the photographer to stick to one lens. With the aperture at 2.8 it is also ample for the bokeh effect users tend to love.

Tamron's 24-70 f/2.8 G2 has their original eBAND coating on the glass. This is a technology that combines an extremely low refractive index nano-structured layer with a conventional multi-layer coating technique to provide better anti-reflection performance. Combined with their BBAR coating it helps with the ghosting and flare that happens with backlit subjects.

It also has fluorine coating and moisture-resistant construction, making it a good option for the outdoors too.

All in all the Tamron 24-70 f.2.8 G2 has done well and is considered a good lens which means that both the build and results are of good quality. It is a lot cheaper than its Nikon and Canon versions but still a relatively expensive lens. Available at a mid-range price as far as lenses go.
