Tecno is owned by Transsion Holdings that is based in Hong Kong. That is the parent company of two other smartphone brands, Infinix and Itel. Aside from that, they are also operating Oramio and Syinix. The first is a smart-devices brand making battery packs, wireless headphones and other such products. The latter is a home appliances maker, with a range from smart TVs to kitchen appliances. Tecno has been in business since 2006, with a global presence catering to over 60 countries. In Africa, they are among the top 3 smartphone brands. Techno is also tied to the Manchester City Football Club for a multi-year global marketing partnership.

The Tecno Range

Tecno develops phones that are for budget-conscious people, with the prices being in the lower to mid-range. Making better smartphones accessible to more people. With a few different lines that have variations in designs, specs and colours as well. The lines currently are called Spark, Pop, L8, WX, Camon and Phantom. The prices vary depending on the specs of the specific smartphone, with variations within the individual lines as well.

Tecno has based its OS on the Google Android platform, with its layer of HiOS on top. Their OS allows users more customisations without 'rooting'. Rooting means the user has access to the Android subsystems built around the Linux kernel. Making it simple to customise one's experience.
