The Tecno Pop 2F is an entry-level phone that is from a lower-end price range, with all the relevant functions to keep one connected. The phone has basic specs as far as the processor, storage and RAM go; given the price point, it is still a good buy.

There are quite a few brands today which are producing affordable smartphones built around the Android platform, Tecno is one of these brands and has similar prices to its sister brand, Infinix.

Tecno does well in markets that need smartphones at accessible prices, which is why it is also one of the top brands across Africa. The brand also has a lot of options which are at the entry-level with lower-end prices and the Pop 2F is such a model.

Tecno Pop 2F

Another entry-level smartphone from Tecno, the Pop 2F comes with 5.5-inch display that has a resolution of 480 x 960p. The pixel density comes to 195ppi and the display is based on the IPS LCD technology. Powered by a Mediatek MT6580M (28 nm) chip, with a Quad-Core clocking a time of 1.3GHz. The graphics are managed by the ARM Mali-400 MP2. The Tecno Pop 2F has the HiOS 3.3 skin, developed by Tecno giving users more options to customise than the regular Android OS.

The HiOS is layered onto Android 8 Oreo, which an older version of the platform but still being used by phones at this level. With an internal storage of 16GB and RAM at 1GB. The memory can be extended with a microSD card, up to 64GB; which should be ample to store one's information. 

Cameras on the Tecno Pop 2F

The rear has a single-lens camera set up, at 5MP with an LED flash as well. The selfie camera is an 8MP lens, seemingly the phone has been designed with more weight given to the selfie camera, with it having more megapixels.

Connectivity, sensors and battery

The Tecno Pop 2F supports WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB and has GPS too. The sensor range is limited to an accelerometer, proximity and a compass. The battery is a 2400mAh capacity Li-Ion cell and is removable, a feature most smartphones do not have.


Surprisingly despite the low-end price range, the phone has functionality for face-unlock. Generally, a basic smartphone the design is nice. The Pop 2F is a good buy for someone looking for a cheaper smartphone.
