Teriyaki is a cooking technique from Japan; foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze that is made from a mix of soy sauce, mirin, sugar (or honey) and possibly ginger. This mix is known as teriyaki sauce and has variations between brands, naturally.

Western alternatives also include sesame seeds or garlic which are uncommon in the traditional Japanese versions.
