Terry towels refer to the cloth used to make towels, the cloth being known as 'terrycloth'. Terrycloth is made with protruding loops of thread which help increase the surface area and help absorb more water when drying after a shower or wash. One can find terry towels for various purposes, there are bath towels, face towels, hand towels and bathrobes as well.

Due to the fact that cotton is a soft fabric and also absorbent, terry towels are often made from it. Some brands also mix in other materials, although 100% cotton is prefered. One can find any number of block colours, patterns or even cartoon characters when it comes to towels.

Terry towels often come as sets as well, sometimes this means a bath towel and a face towel, other times this means one can buy two or more bath towels as a set.
