The Timberland brand

A brand that started with a focus on shoes, Timberland is famous for its boots. Their fame peaked in line with the Hip-Hop movement. Timberland boots or 'Tims' as they are referred to by the subculture, are a big part of the street style associated with Hip-Hop. The brand was established by Nathan Swartz in 1928, but in 2007 his grandson sold it to the VF Corporation for $2 billion. The VF Corporation is also the owner of JanSport, North Face and Eastpak. Timberland operates over 200 company-owned stores across the world. 

The brand is one fo the few that is conscious of their impact on the Earth due to production and sourcing raw materials. In light of that, they are helping plant trees and also procure cotton from sustainable sources. Timberland also recycles material and gets their leather from tanneries with top ratings; these tanneries have a lesser impact on the ecosystem. They are also using renewable energy and divert their waste for further usage.

Timberland's catalogue

Timberland's famous boots are available in many different designs, some are more rugged looking while others can be worn for semi-formal occasions. They also make work boots that have metal-toes for safety and a range of tactical boots, similar to what is worn by SWAT teams. Aside from these they also make other shoes including boat shoes, sandals, dress shoes and casual outdoor footwear. These are available for men, women and kids. A lot of their shoes are waterproof, truly a shoe designed for rugged, regular wear.
