Versace was started in 1978 by Gianni Versace with his brother and in style collaboration with Donatella Versace, his sister. Gianni created a logo inspired by the head of Medusa as the logo, as children the Versace siblings used to play in the ruins at 'Reggio Calabria' where Medusa is made on the floor.

The brand was successful instantly and a favourite among many celebrities and socialites. With time Versace also expanded into accessories, china and furnishings. From clothing royals to rock stars, Versace is a brand to be reckoned with.

Versace's perfumes

Versace's fragrance 'Gianni Versace for Women' was the first and was introduced in 1981. The scents by Versace were top of the market for about two decades, the 80s and 90s. The most famous being 'Versus', a Versace perfume for her featuring plum, cedar, rose, iris, amber, and musk, and 'Blonde', a white floral scent concocted to honour Gianni's sister Donatella.

Later in the 2000s, they created a perfume by the name of 'Bright Crystal' which is one of the most sold perfumes in the world. Today Versace has over 60 fragrances available on the market. Versace fragrances are produced in collaboration with Euroitalia SRL.

Gianni Versace was murdered in 1997, his sister Donatella is still a key figure at the fashion house; keeping the Versace legacy alive. The price point of their perfumes varies, one can choose what to purchase depending on their preference and budget.
