Pros & Cons

  • Affordable

Vivo is one of the brands known for producing many smartphones that are affordable. These are Android-based devices and have all the needed features that are relevant for the time. Vivo is a sister brand to OnePlus, Realme and Oppo; all of whom are owned by BBK Electronics.

The Vivo Y12A is another affordable option from the brand.

Vivo Y12A internals and OS

At the heart of this device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, which was made using the 12nm method; a fact that lets you know what level this smartphone is at since this is a dated production method. Combined with this is 3GB of RAM and a 32GB storage space. In case the storage is less for your usage, there is the option to add on more via a microSD card, this lets you add up to 256GB more.

The OS on this is very current, with Android 11 as the base layer. This OS features Machine Learning, something that allows your device to become more optimised based on how you use it. Onto this base, Vivo has layered FunTouch 11 for the Y12A. This extra layer comes with some bloatware but has the added advantage of more customisation in comparison to base Android 11.

Camera and display

The camera of a smartphone is a crucial feature today as nearly everyone is sharing images and videos. The Vivo Y12A has a dual-sensor setup for the main module. One sensor is at 13MP and there is another one at 2MP. The selfie camera is at 8MP, giving one ample clarity for that side as well. Shooting modes include pano, HDR and a few others. Video can be shot at 1080p with a frame rate of 30fps.

With a 6.51 inch display, one has ample viewing space on this device. This display is based on IPS LCD technology and has a resolution of 720 x 1544 pixels; this brings the pixel count to 262 pixels per inch. A display that is more than capable of handling any regular, everyday tasks.

Connectivity, sensors and the rest

With the Vivo Y12A, one has the ability to connect using WiFi and Bluetooth. It has GPS, FM Radio and Data abilities too. For physical connectivity, there is the microUSB 2.0 as well as a 3.5mm audio jack that makes audio connectivity super simple. The sensors needed to run features within apps include the accelerometer, compass and proximity sensor. There is also a fingerprint reader for unlocking the device, it is rear mounted.

The Vivo Y12A has a large battery, it has a capacity of 5000mAh. For a device with these specs, that is a lot of power.

Vivo has the Y12A in multiple colours so you can pick the one you like. The price of this device is affordable, overall the price is okay for the specs; a smartphone that is moderate in value. It also features the DualSIM feature.
