As far as local clothes go, the kurta is the simplest upper-wear item. It has open-ended arms that ar only hemmed, meaning there are no cuffs. The neck is similar although today many brands make them with band collars. The length of a kurta is till the knee and the cut si straight. Some brands do make more fitting kurtas but this is a contemporary idea, traditionally a kurta is supposed to be loose and comfortable.

A white kurta can be worn for a lot of different occasions, from eid to mehndis or even to sleep. If one wants something slightly fancier there are a lot made form from chikankari or chikan kadai. This is a kind of white on white embroidery dating back centuries. It adds some embellishment to one's white kurta.

White kurtas are most often made from cotton. This is a material that Pakistan is known for all over the world so one can find good quality locally. For winter there can be khaddar or wool as well.
