Overview

It has the relevant sensors and a decent processor, along with MUIU 10 for the user interface. Xiaomi had quite a bit of pressure to work on this after the success of the Note 7. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 sits at the lower end of the mid price point.

Description
The Note line from Xiaomi
The Note 7 by Xiaomi did really well, raising the bar high for the Note 8. Xiaomi went further and upped the bar with their new iteration, improving it as much as possible. A lower mid-range phone with the form factor of a higher price point device nearly without a bezel and just a bit of chin. Packed with most of the relevant features.
Display, OS and configuration
The bezel-less face provides a clean view of the display, which is a 6.39-inch at 1080x2280 pixels. Coming to a pixel density of 395 pixels per inch. The technology is IPS LCD based. The user interface is Xiaomi's MUIU 10 which is built onto the Android Pie platform. Coming equipped with Kryo 260 Octa-Core processors clocking 2GHz and 1.8GHz, fit onto a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset. The graphics are run by the Adreno 610, rendering a good image. With 4GB RAM to keep things running smooth and 64GB of space. There are variations in storage and RAM that can be chosen from, with 128GB space and 6GB RAM being the other option. The space can also be expanded, up to 256GB more with the aid of a microSD card.
Camera
The camera specs are impressive given the price range this phone is in, with the main rear camera at a very high 48MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2", aided by an 8MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultrawide), 1/4" and a 2MP, f/2.4, 1/5" (dedicated macro camera), along with a 2MP, f/2.4, 1/5", depth sensor. There is also an LED flash in the same line as the lenses. The front camera is at 13MP and has HDR plus panorama modes. The selfie camera shoots video at 1080p at a frame rate of 30fps.
Battery, sensors and connectivity
The battery is a Li-Polymer based battery, these generally last longer overall than the Li-Ion ones. With a capacity of 4000mAh and the option for fast charge. It has all the needed sensors including fingerprint, gyro, proximity, accelerometer and compass. For connectivity, the phone has a USB-C, WiFi, Bluetooth and infrared.
The phone has dual sim abilities along with all this, overall a good device for the price. Reviews have pointed out slight overheating issues with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8.
