Estee Lauder Knowing

A brand started in 1946, by Joseph and Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder gained experience from her uncle who was a chemist and skincare specialist. This is also why the initial focus was on beauty and care products. 1953 saw the first fragrance called Youth Dew, it is still one of the brands bestsellers.

Over time the fragrance segment expanded with many other successful options, including Estee Lauder Knowing which was launched in 1988.

This is a complex concoction, with a lot of notes in each of the three layers.

The top notes are made from aldehydes, mimosa, rose, coriander, green notes, plum, tuberose and melon. This makes for a floral opening that also has freshness from the aldehydes and fruits. Going on to the hear notes that are made from patchouli, cardamom, cedar, bay leaf, orris root, jasmine, orange blossom, lily of the valley and pittosporum. This middle layer brings in spice, woodiness and adds a lot more floral notes.

To complete the scent the base has oakmoss, patchouli, civet, spice notes, vetiver, sandalwood, amber, orris root and must. All this comes together to add in animalistic, musky notes, with some earthiness and spice.

Combined this creates a darker, deeper fragrance that has a lighter side to it as well.

Other than spring and summer Estee Lauder's Knowing is considered ideal for any time. This doesn't mean one can't wear it during that season if they want, what time to wear a perfume is a personal choice.
