Description

Display & Design

The Nikon D7100 also has a larger 3.2-inch 1.2M dot LCD that features an RGBW display. Hidden in the camera's magnesium-alloy and polycarbonate shell are some good upgrades over its predecessor such as the upgraded AF system, 51 AF points (15 cross-type) and the ability to focus in extremely low light.

Wireless Remote Option

The Advanced Wireless lighting is a wireless remote operation offered by Nikon to the owners of multiple Speedlights and the built-in flash can be used in Commander mode to trigger remote flashes. D7100 measures 5.35 x 2.99 x 4.21 inches and weighs 1.69 lbs.

Auto ISO Program

Another small yet very practical upgrade over the previous model is the well-implemented Auto ISO program that was first seen in D800, and then on the D5200. The Auto ISO program in the Nikon D7100 lets the camera automatically set the minimum shutter speed according to the focal length of the lens in use, with five user-controlled settings to choose from.

Sensor & Viewfinder

The camera houses a 24.1-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor with an ISO range from 100 to 6400 and a viewfinder with 100% frame coverage and 0.94x magnification ratio.

Performance

The Nikon D7100 offers video recordings of 30p and 25p with full-time autofocus and built-in stereo mic and gives a spot white balance in live view mode. The DX mode allows for 6 frames per second continuous shooting and 15 megapixels still captures at 7 frames per second in 1.3X crop mode. The crop mode also lets you record 50/60i movies as this mode gives an increased focal length of 2X.

Connectivity

Users can instantly transfer their image to their smartphones and devices over WIFI. The camera also allows remote access and control of the camera from your smartphone, complete with live view, which can be a creative way of taking self-portraits or group shots.
