A known electronics producer that has a very wide range of products. Among the Samsung catalogue, one can find Android-based tablets of various kinds. There are options for higher-end devices as well as affordable options for everyday users who do not want to spend an arm and a leg.

To start with there are two options in the display size, the first is an 8-inch one and the larger one is at 10.1-inches. This is not much in inches but makes quite a difference to the price. This would also affect portability, someone may not want a larger tablet to carry around on their person or in their bag. Both options are powered by entry-level processors, there can be either a Qualcomm one or Exynos. The graphics processors are integrated ones so they take on some of the visual processing load.

RAM for the 8-inch variant is at 2GB and with the 10.1-inch option, there is either 2GB or 3GB. For storage on the former, there is either 32GB or 64GB, the latter has more options with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB. If you plan on having a lot more apps more space would suit you. Alternatively, you can use the microSDXC card slot to extend the space by quite a bit. This is not as safe though if you lose a device the card can be read with ease as it is not locked.

The display on both these devices is HD but not FullHD. For the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab A, the resolution is 1200 x 1920 pixels and the 8-inch one has 800 x 1280 pixels. This is good quality resolution but it is not FullHD, also as the display technology is TFT it is not as crisp as the other available options in the market.

Main cameras on both options have an 8MP sensor, with video recording at 1080p at a 30fps frame rate. The selfie cameras vary, the larger tablet has a 5MP sensor and the smaller one has a 2MP sensor. Generally, these cameras are all mediocre and are not meant for content creation, more of some basic pictures and for video calls.

Both devices feature WiFi and Bluetooth but the USB ports are different. The 10.1-inch variant has a USB Type-C port while the other one has a microUSB port. A headphone jack can be found on both options, making it easy to use one's wired headphones. The tablets have dual speakers in case one does not want to use headphones or doesn't have a pair handy.

The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab A has a 6150mAh battery and the 8-inch one has a 5100mAh one. Both batteries are based on Li-Polymer technology, which enables the overall form of the device to be slimmer.

Tablets are very useful if one wants to cut down on their work and also not be stuck in a scroll-hole on social media. This is a good in-between which one can use only for reading and streaming. For reading the size makes it a lot better than a smartphone.

The price of this range is in the lower end of the mid-range, making for an affordable option that is ideal for everyday use or for kids as a learning tool. Kids can also make use of apps that help them learn how to draw on a tablet, which is a useful skill these days.
