TCL was started as TTK in 1981; the brand used to produce audio cassettes. The brand was sued by the famous TDK brand and stopped their cassette production.

Today the TCL label has a catalogue of electronics, most of which are sold for competitive prices. The brand has TVs, ACs mobiles, home appliances and more.

Based on the Android platform, TCLs SmartTVs are functionally efficient. Their build quality is good too. The brand has designed TVs with the most modern look possible, keeping up with the competition. The TCL S6500 is available in a few different sizes so one can choose the one that fits their space and budget. The larger ones, naturally, cost more. Being a SmartTV it connects to the WiFi directly.

Display and sound

TCL has given this model of their TV range a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels (pixel ranges vary with TV size, this is for the 43 inch TV), with support for 2K content. The refresh rate is at 60Hz, making the content ample smooth. Contrast ratio is at 5000:1 and their Micro Dimming feature adjusts the dark and light spots individually. TCL has included the IPQ Engine app, an algorithm that makes up for small variations in image representation caused by the performance differences of individual components. The combination of all this has made a great display, the colour spectrum is well represented and the brightness is powerful.

The sound is Dolby Audio, a reliable name. The 5.1 make a greatly immersive soundscape. Despite having slim speakers built into it the sound is of good quality.

Other features

The TCL S6500 has Google Assitant built into it. As are the apps for Netflix and YouTube, making access easy. The TV's remote has a microphone built into it for your voice-based queries. The Chromecast tech is also built into it, making it easy to connect other devices to it.

The porting options include 2 HDMIs, SPDIF, A/V in, USB and headphones.

Not many brands are able to make devices that are of good quality and yet are budget-friendly, TCL is one such brand. Especially with this model of theirs; a model that also has a special Peshawar Zalmi edition, a commemoration due to TCL sponsoring the team that plays in the Pakistan Super League.

The different sizes of this model are available at a range of prices, but all are competitive. Especially for something of this standard.
