Description

Vivo produces a lot of smartphones, with a lot of options in more accessible ranges, the Y20s is one such option. It is a device that has all the needed features and ample power for you to enjoy some affordable gaming as well.

The design profile is similar to most devices from its era, it is slim and minimal in feel. The bezels are minimal on the sides, the chin is a bit wider as is the top where the notch is laid for the selfie camera.

Vivo Y20s internals and OS

The processor that makes this device tick is the Snapdragon 460 from Qualcomm. A chipset that was made using the 11nm method, quite a transistor dense level had been achieved by this method. Fused into this is the Adreno 610, a graphics processor that takes on the visual load so the main processor can handle other things.

Along with these two, there is 4GB of RAM and 128GB of space. The space can even be extended via a microSDXC card, which makes it super easy to expand on storage. There is a slight concern that these memory cards are not as well protected as they can physically be taken out and accessed on other systems.

These chips are running the Android 10 OS, which has FunTouch OS 10.5 layered onto it. The Android base gives this system Machine Learning, a very useful feature for optimisation at a very core level that can add to the overall performance speed. With FunTouch OS 10.5 on top, you get a user interface that is not as bare and allows for more customisations so your digital space is personalised.

Cameras and display

The rear camera system is fitted with three sensors, the first of which is a 13MP f/2.2 sensor that shoots a bit wide so one gets more area covered in their shots. The second and third are both 2MP sensors with an aperture of f/2.4; one of these is for macro shooting and the other takes care of depth sensing. The camera app allows for HDR, Pano, Bokeh and such modes. These bring a lot of versatility to your photographs.

The selfie camera has an 8MP f/1.8 sensor that also shoots a bit wider so your selfies can get in more. Both, the front and the rear shoot video at 1080p with a frame rate of 30fps.

For the display, this device has a 6.51 inch screen that is based on IPS LCD tech. The resolution is at 720 x 1600pixels, which brings the pixel density to 270 pixels per inch. Not a very high-end display but ample for regular users and has enough of a kick for some gaming too.

Sensors, connectivity and battery

The sensor range is simple, with an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. This does limit some functions but for average users, this should not be an issue. There is a fingerprint reader that is mounted onto the side, it makes for quick access to unlock your device.

With a 5000mAh battery, this device has a lot of power for the user. It also features Fast Charging so you can top up quick when you are in a rush.
